 THE PROJECT

 MANY PEOPLE HAVE NOBODY

 TO HELP SUPPORT THEM

 BUT WITH COMMUNITY SUPPORT

WE ALL CAN.

THE PROJECT

Poole Covid-19 Community Support Group was created in response to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. We are run by two local women, Emma and Sarah.

We came across people who were having to self isolate whether that be due to the fact they are displaying symptoms, have the virus, are elderly, are high risk or vulnerable to the virus and they did not have any family or friends able to support them by providing essential items or keeping in touch with them. There is currently no government plans to tackle this issue, apart from "community groups".

With the risk factors significantly lower to younger, healthier people, we wanted to do our bit and help co-ordinate volunteers to support those who need to isolate themselves, including those who are doing so out of choice due to pre-existing conditions.

We are looking for volunteers to help deliver shopping to those in isolation/semi-isolation (to outside their door as per Public Health England Guidance) and for volunteers able to talk on the phone or video call with those in isolation who wish to talk to someone/check in, as a way to tackle loneliness. We are working with local charities to provide some of these. All volunteers will be vetted and those with a DBS will be prioritised.

We are also looking for local businesses to get involved, by offering taking orders over the phone and online, including payment, so volunteers are able to pick up the shopping and deliver to the recipient in their local area. With the virus likely to significantly impact small businesses, which are the hub to so many communities, it is vital we support them in every possible way we can, so we are asking people to ask their local convenience stores to get involved and signed up to this initiative.

If you are a local business or volunteer able to help, please contact us. If you need support, please go to the "Need Support" page.

We will always try our hardest to help, but unfortunately are unable to guarantee we can as this is very much down to community spirit, so please spread the word and volunteer if you can.
